Samana Group reveals plan to open a K-12 school in Fujairah, its first in the Gulf region
Kerala-based hospitality-to-retail group Samana Global Business Solutions has partnered with Indian academic institution Sadhbavana World School to open a K-12 school in Fujairah, according to a top executive.
The Eminence Private School will be Samana’s first educational venture in the Gulf, where it is already present in the hospitality and real estate sectors.
“The school will be of international standard, with all facilities and will be opened in this academic year,” Vinay Nair, chief operating officer, Samana Global Services, told Arabian Business.
For the Calicut-based Sadhbavana World School, the tie-up with Samana marks a first foray into an international market. Samana Group is setting up the school in Fujairah under its vertical, Samana Academia.
“The school will have classes [through] 12th,” Nair added. “Enrolment for admissions will start soon as the first session will start from this academic year.”
Group sources told Arabian Business that will the initial focus will be on the school in Fujairah, the firm eventually hopes to branch out to other locations in the Middle East.
Additionally, Nair said Samana Academic has plans to launch centres of excellence in advanced disciplines such as health sciences, hospitality and finishing schools.
“To begin with, these centres will be set up across various locations within India,” he added. “These centres will also act as captive bases for talent for us for the various businesses of the group.”
Samana Group – which also operates in the hospitality, healthcare, retail, horticulture, IT and real estate sectors – last year launched a $560 million alternate investment fund (AIF) with IBMC UAE in Abu Dhabi.
The proceeds from the fund are to be partly used to finance the groups varied expansion plans, including in the Middle East.
