Saudi Arabia has approved the building of a major rail link from Riyadh to Kuwait.
Among the items on the agenda, according to state-run press agency SPA, was the approval of “an agreement between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government of the State of Kuwait regarding the railway link project between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait”.
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait rail project
Earlier this year, Kuwait government officials approved a potential project with consultancy studies into implementing a plan already under way.
The proposed service will connect Riyadh and Kuwait City with a high-speed train service.
Although connected by air and road, adding a train service would massively increase transport options between the two countries and offer opportunities to boost tourism and economic links.
