Chapo collects Durrat villa deal

Bahraini contractor Chapo has picked up a US $41.66 million contract to build 171 villas on two islands of the Durrat Al Bahrain project.

Bahraini contractor Chapo has picked up a US $41.66 million (BD15.7 million) contract to build 171 villas on two islands of the Durrat Al Bahrain project.

The contract forms parts of the second phase of villa construction on the $4 billion development, which will be made up of 11 islands. Construction is already underway on 890 villas in phases one and two.

Contracts handed out so far on the project total $318 million.

Durrat Al Bahrain is jointly owned by the Bahraini government and Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain).

It is being developed by KMC Bovis, a joint venture between Kuwaiti Manager Company and Bovis Lend Lease. Atkins is the architect, while Hisham A Jaffer is the quantity surveyor.
