Revealed: most in-demand graduates in the UAE

Graduates with engineering, medical sciences, business and IT degrees are the most in-demand by UAE employers, according to a new study from the Ministry of Education.

According to a Ministry tweet, the study covered 80 percent of all institutes across the seven emirate of the UAE and canvassed more than 13,000 students graduating from government and private higher education institutions in 2017.

Of the various medical sciences, medicine and surgery was found to be in “very high” demand, compared to a “high” demand for medical sciences and a “low” demand for physiotherapy.

Three categories of engineering – civil, mechanical, and petroleum – were found to be in “very high” demanad.

Additionally, graduates with marketing degrees were found to be in “high” demand, compared to “average” demand for those with finance, accounting and quality management.

Overall, arts and humanities graduates were found to be in “low” demand, although demand was slightly higher for international studies and applied foreign languages graduates.

The study also examined the speed at which graduates were employed after receiving their degrees and found that education graduates were found to be employed “very fast”.

The next fastest speed  of employment was found to be among business administration graduates, followed by IT, engineering, environmental and health sciences, arts and humanities and medical sciences.
