The Ministry of Health in Kuwait has given its approval for a unified electronic test as an additional requirement for individuals seeking to join the healthcare profession, according to a report by Al-Qabas daily.
The ministry views this step as a means to ensure quality performance within the healthcare sector.
The unified electronic test serves as an extension of the current “efficiency assessment” test that is administered prior to hiring doctors and technicians.
The test will initially cover certain specialisations within the medical field and will gradually expand to include other specialisations.
Mandatory electronic test for healthcare jobs in Kuwait
Applicants, including those from abroad, will be able to complete the test electronically through the relevant website.
The Ministry of Health emphasised that the additional test is part of several acceptance criteria for obtaining a license to practice the medical profession in Kuwait.
These criteria include a standardised theoretical test conducted electronically, a personal interview, and a practical professional test.
Similar to practices in other countries in the region, the implementation of this test aims to ensure the highest evaluation standards are met before granting a license to practice medicine.

It is mandatory for individuals seeking employment in both the public and private health sectors.
The ministry plans to periodically develop and expand the test to encompass a broader range of medical professions.
Non-citizen healthcare practitioners interested in working within the government or private health sectors can apply by visiting the ministry’s website and completing the online job application form. Then, they can proceed to register for the standardised electronic test.
