Google reveals most searched queries in the UAE, Saudi Arabia

Search engine giant produces top 10 lists, showing the most trending queries in Saudi Arabia and the UAE in 2018

Google has revealed the most popular search queries in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt during 2018.

The search engine giant has produced top 10 lists for both countries, showing the most trending queries.

In the UAE, the Passport Index was a popular search as the country rose up the global rankings to become the most powerful passport.

The Federal Tax Authority also figured prominently in the year that the UAE introduced VAT and, later, implemented a scheme to allow tourists to claim back VAT on purchases.

In Saudi Arabia, e-commerce giant noon made the top 10 as did Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi journalist who was killed in Turkey.

Google said the lists had a few things in common, especially between Egypt and Saudi Arabia where the more traditional songs dominated the top songs list. Football was also a common theme between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, who both competed in this year’s World Cup.
