The Federal National Council (FNC) has branded reports alleging that its website had been hacked as “totally false and baseless”.The FNC’s General Secretariat said in a statement the website was regularly monitored and updated by the relevant sections at the council but no evidence of hacking had been found, news agency WAM reported.
A report in UAE daily The National on Monday claimed the home page of the FNC website had been defaced, sending visitors to another site on which a taunting message was displayed.
The message said the FNC site was breached by the “Delta Hacking Security Team”. It credited “all Iranian hackers” and listed their pseudonyms in the green, red and white colours of the Islamic republic’s flag.
But a statement issued by the FNC said: “Nothing unusual was found during this time. Large numbers of surfers visit the site and use it normally. We have not been alerted about surfing difficulties or even a hacking attempt.”
It, however, admitted that the English page was undergoing maintenance and updating, saying that the page will be up and running soon.
