UAE leaders praise India and ISRO on successful Chandrayaan-3 lunar landing

UAE leaders led a global celebration of India’s successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of moon on Wednesday.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, were among the first leaders to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and country’s scientists.

In a tweet that was also translated in Hindi, Sheikh Zayed wrote: “The successful lunar landing of India’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft represents a significant leap for collective scientific progress. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi and the people of India for this historic achievement in service of humankind.”

Sheikh Mohammed also used his official account on X to write: “Congratulations to our friends in India for the successful landing on the moon. Nations are built through perseverance; India continues to make history.”

Salem AlMarri, Director General of Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre in the UAE, joined the UAE leaders in lauding his counterparts in India, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and wrote: “Congratulations to the entire team at @isro on the successful landing of #Chandrayaan3 near the unexplored South Pole of the Moon. This is a new leap in the Moon exploration journey that will provide valuable data to the global scientific community.”

Wishes on Chandrayaan-3’s successful landing

Celebrities, politicians and sports stars joined the nation in the space first achieved by India, and nobody embodied the Indian pride more than legendary Bollywood star, Amitabh Bachchan.

In his tweet, Bachchan said: “For far too long when India was referred to, it was spoken of as 3rd World Country… and I hated it. TODAY I AM PROUD TO SAY, INDIA IS 1ST WORLD .. in more ways than one…”

The 14th Administrator of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Bill Nelson also congratulated the ISRO.

In his tweet, Nelson said: “Congratulations @isro on your successful Chandrayaan-3 lunar South Pole landing! And congratulations to #India on being the 4th country to successfully soft-land a spacecraft on the Moon. We’re glad to be your partner on this mission!”

On Wednesday, exactly at 16:34 hours UAE time, India made history with its successful Moon mission when it become the first to land in the lunar south pole region. The only other countries that have landed on Moon are the United States of America, the former Soviet Union and China.
