Saudia’s international passengers numbers rise 19% in Q1

The airline flew 8.3 million passengers during the quarter

Saudi Arabian national carrier Saudia recorded 8.3 million passengers in Q1 2018, a 9 percent increase from the year before, the airline said earlier this week.

Additionally, Saudia reported a 19 percent increase in international guests, as well as a 5 percent increase in the number of flights flown during Q1, which totalled 52,000.

“Saudia’s growth and transformation has been underway for several years, and the results have shown how the strategic growth plans, new infrastructure and guest experience investments have contributed to the airline’s recent successes,” said Engineer Salah bin Nasser Al-Jasser.

“We are pleased to growing in all areas across the business, meanwhile showcasing Saudia’s hospitality to the world,” he added.

The airline currently flies to 89 destinations around the world on a fleet of 146 aircraft. By 2020, the airline plans to have a fleet of 200 aircraft.

In 2017, Saudia earned the title of “world’s most improved airline” by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax.
