Dubai Police has added luxury Italian automaker Maserati’s sports coupe, the GranTurismo, to its fleet of patrol cars.
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, received the car which is equipped with a 4.7-litre, 460-hp V8 engine and capable of speeds of up to 187mph, from UAE importer-dealer Al Tayer Motors.
Al Marri said the introduction of sports cars in the patrol car fleet is part of plans to enhance the security presence of police officers in important tourist destinations such as Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR).
The addition of the Maserati GranTurismo increases the number of luxury patrol vehicles in the Dubai Police fleet to 15.
Al Tayer Motors was established in 1982 and represents major European and American automobile manufacturers Land Rover, Jaguar, Maserati, Ferrari, Lincoln, Ford and Ford Trucks across the UAE.
