The Traffic and Patrol department in Abu Dhabi impounded a total of 1,943 vehicles for jumping red signals during the last six months, official news agency WAM reported on Sunday.
Releasing the figures, Director of Capital Traffic Lt.Col. Ahmed Al-Shehhi said that the police will strictly implement the new traffic rules which stipulate a punishment of impounding vehicles for a period of 15 days and a fixed penalty of 800 dirhams ($218), in addition to eight black points, the agency said.
