Severe turbulence hit a Gulf Air flight from the Philippines to Bahrain on Friday, causing minor injuries among passengers and crew, the airline has said.
“Flight GF155 carrying 247 passengers from Manila to Bahrain experienced severe turbulence while mid-flight… resulting in some passengers and crew sustaining minor injuries,” Gulf Air said in a statement.
The aircraft was diverted to the Indian city of Mumbai, where one passenger received medical attention at the airport.
Earlier this month, more than 30 passengers were injured when Etihad Airways flight EY474 from Abu Dhabi to Jakarta encountered severe and unexpected turbulence.
A total of 31 passengers were injured, with 22 being treated by paramedics for minor injuries at the airport. Nine other passengers have been taken to a local hospital. The turbulence also caused some damage to cabin storage areas.
