The RTA and TBC jointly announced they have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bring TBC’s Loop system to Dubai.
The Dubai Loop will have a 17km pilot Loop transportation system as the initial phase of the project.
Dubai Loop
The initial Dubai Loop pilot will have 11 stations and 17km of tunnel and will transport more than 20,000 passengers per hour, with the goal of ultimately expanding into Dubai Loop, a next generation underground transportation system throughout the Emirate.
This collaboration will explore the use of sustainable, innovative technologies to safely and efficiently transport passengers via The Boring Company’s proven Loop system, which has already transported more than two million passengers across Las Vegas, USA since 2021.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council said the project is evidence of Dubai’s spirit of innovation and that the city continues to set new benchmarks above and below ground.
In a post on social media, he said: “On the sidelines of the World Governments Summit today, we announced a partnership to launch the Dubai Loop project that is set to revolutionise transportation.
“Under an MoU signed between RTA and The Boring Company, Dubai will explore the development of the 17-kilometre project. With 11 stations and a capacity to transport over 20,000 passengers per hour, the project reflects Dubai’s commitment to advancing new cutting-edge mobility solutions.
“Dubai’s spirit of innovation thrives on strong partnerships with global industry leaders. Under the leadership of @HHShkMohd, the city continues to redefine the future of transportation, both above and below ground, setting new benchmarks for sustainability, efficiency, and urban connectivity”.
Vegas Loop is currently under active development and has been entitled for 104 stations and 110km of tunnel, eventually transporting more than 90,000 passengers per hour throughout the system.
A signing ceremony was held during the World Government Summit in Dubai in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council.

The Dubai Loop System will connect major hubs throughout Dubai. This initiative is designed to:
- Reduce Travel Times: With potential speeds of up to 100mph, the Loop could cut travel time between key points in Dubai to just minutes
- Increase Capacity: The ultimate expanded system aims to handle more than 100,000 passengers per hour, providing a high-capacity solution to urban transport demands
- Promote Sustainability: Utilising electric vehicles within a controlled environment, the system will contribute to Dubai’s ambitious sustainability goals, aligning with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050
