Emirates is now offering its female cabin crew members a choice of 15 different shoe styles

Dubai-based airline Emirates has introduced more choices for shoes and brighter uniform colours as part of an updated cabin crew uniform.

New options will be offered to female crew members who can now choose from 15 styles of Spanish leather shoes in different heights, widths and designs.

The iconic red leather shoes will remain but crews will receive two pairs each year – flats and medium or high heels. Male crew will still get new brown leather shoes every nine months.

In another change, the red colour of female crew shoes and handbags will be brighter than before.

Emirates first introduced red shoes in 1985 and they have since switched to brown and back again. The signature red remains integral to the instantly recognisable brand identity.

The current uniform design was launched in 2008 in collaboration with British manufacturer Simon Jersey. Made from warm sand-coloured fabric, gold accessories reference Dubai’s association with the precious metal.

The elegant pleated cream veil on the female hat represents the seven Emirates of the UAE. Comfort and durability are priorities to maintain standards during long-haul flights worldwide.

Emirates is inviting applications from global cabin crew candidates on its website. Open days are scheduled around the world to select new recruits.
