Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced guidelines for commuters on the public and intercity buses to ensure comfort and avoid violations.

The guidelines detail several steps:

  • Ensure that the nol card is topped up before using public and intercity buses.
  • Make sure you tap the nol card while entering the bus.
  • Food and drinks are not permitted on buses.
  • Avoid littering.
  • Avoid talking to the driver and contact the call center for queries instead.
  • In case of loss of belongings, contact 908.
  • Priority front seating is for senior citizens, women, children and people of determination.

The authority made the announcement via X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, the caption read: “Are you a #PublicBus user? Follow the mentioned guidelines while commuting via the Public and Intercity Buses to ensure your comfort and avoid violations. #YourComfortMatters #RTA.”
