Saudi Arabia’s newest budget carrier is launching a new route to Alexandria, increasing its international destinations to eight.
The first of the twice weekly flights from Jeddah will depart February 25, and be swiftly followed by a flight from Riyadh the following day. The airline made the announcement during the Gulf Investment and Tourism Forum in Jeddah, under the sponsorship of HRH Khaled Al-Faisal.
Andrew Cowen, CEO of Sama said: “The addition of Alexandria as Sama’s eighth international destination, and our twentieth destination overall is part of our strategy to meet the requests of our honoured guests, for low fares and improved frequencies between Saudi Arabia and Egypt.” He added: “The number of travellers from the Kingdom to Egypt in the year 2006 was more than 2 million. This ranked Egypt as a first preferred destination for Saudi travellers.”
Samer Atawi, chief commercial of operational, said they chose Alexandria because it is the gateway to Egypt’s northern coast. Fares will start at US$100 from Jeddah and $106 from Riyadh.
