Saudi budget airline Flyadeal increases weekly flights to Cairo

The airline will add new flight services from various airports in Saudi Arabia to the Egyptian capital, commencing from June 15

Flyadeal, the budget carrier of the Saudi Airlines Group, announced more than doubling of its weekly flights to Cairo to 71 from the current level of 28 in a bid to strengthen its presence in the Egyptian market.

The airline will add new flight services from various airports in Saudi Arabia to the Egyptian capital, commencing from June 15.

The budget airline will operate 28 flights per week from Riyadh and 26 flights per week from Jeddah.

The carrier will also operate 10 flights per week from Dammam, and the Madinah to Cairo starting from September 14.

The new flight services will provide a distinct and affordable option for air travel to citizens, residents and pilgrims, and contribute to increasing travel and strengthening cooperation between the two countries, the airline said.

Con Korviatis, CEO of Flyadeal, said the network expansion will take the airline’s daily flight to Cairo to 12 flights a day.

He said Flyadeal’s air traffic to Cairo increased 153 percent during the first quarter of the current year over the same year-ago period, becoming the largest economic air operator between the two countries.

He also indicated that the carrier intends to operate summer flights to Sharm El-Sheikh, its second stop in Egypt, for the second year in a row.

It plans to operate 3 flights per week, starting from Jeddah, from next June 22.

This will in conjunction with the launch of its other seasonal destinations that were announced recently, including Antalya, Izmir, Trabzon, and Bodrum in Turkey, Tbilisi in Georgia, Baku in Azerbaijan, Sarajevo in Bosnia, Heraklion and Rhodes in Greece, Larnaca in Cyprus, and Tivat in the Republic of Montenegro.
