UAE petrol and diesel prices have plummeted up to 39 per cent in the space of less than a year.
The cost of E-Plus 91 now stands at AED2.97 per litre, a decrease of more than 33 per cent on July of last year when it was AED4.44.
Diesel has seen even sharper falls. At AED2.91 per litre it is now approximately 39 per cent cheaper to fill up than July 2022, when it cost AED4.76.
UAE petrol and diesel prices
Despite the overall decline in prices at the pump, the cost of filling up a tank of petrol in the UAE is at the highest level seen so far this year, while diesel is cheaper than at any point in 2023.
Prices are in a state of flux as global energy market details dictate the cost to the motorist.
Prices were frozen by the Fuel Price Committee due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. The controls were later removed in March 2021 to align with rising oil prices globally.
From May 1 the cost of filling up vehicles in the UAE will be:
- Special 95 – AED3.05 litre from AED4.520 in June, 2022, a decline of 32.5%
- Super 98 – AED3.16 a litre from AED4.63 in June, 2022 a decline of 32%
- E-Plus – AED2.97 a litre from AED4.44 in June, 2022 a decline of 33%
- Diesel – AED2.91 a litre from AED4.76 in June, 2022 a decline of 39%
