The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) is working with hospitality partners and government authorities in the emirate on a new certification process to ensure that local hotels are safe for staycations, it was announced on Thursday.
In a statement, RAKTDA said that the ‘Stay Safe’ hotel certification will require hotels to fulfil a number of measures across their properties, including reception and concierge areas, guest rooms, restrooms, pools, restaurants, lounges and retail paces.
Current rules in RAK include the provision of masks and gloves for all staff and mandatory thermal screenings.
Guidelines are also being provided governing guest transportation, meeting and function spaces, housekeeping, laundry and waste management.
“The health and safety of our visitors, residents and colleagues is our utmost priority,” said RAKI Phillips, the CEO of RAKTDA. “We are working closely with our hospitality partners and government authorities to ensure the highest standards of hygiene are maintained and that all social distancing advisories are strictly adhered to across the emirate.
The certification, he added, are designed to help ‘reassure’ guests.
“Once awarded, hotels can use to demonstrate their adoption of all the measures in place to protect everyone’s wellbeing,” Phillips added. “We know that many people are looking forward to what we’ve termed a ‘shortcation’ or longer holiday and our aim is to give them confidence that they can comfortably enjoy their time in Ras Al Khaimah.
