Abu Dhabi airport installs sleeping pods

New passenger facilities cost $12 per hour and convert into private flat beds

Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) has installed the world’s first ‘GoSleep’ sleeping pods which allow passengers to grab a few hours sleep between flights for AED45 ($12.25) per hour, it has been announced.

Ten ‘GoSleep’ pods have been installed in Terminal 3 and in the Al Dhabi Lounge in Terminal 1, with a further 35 on order for installation later this year.

The chairs can convert in private flat beds and cover offers privacy to sleep. Costing AED45 an hour, the pods will eventually also include Internet access, storage for luggage and other valuables and facilities to charge laptops, mobile telephones, and other electronic devices.

Commenting on this initiative, Mohammed Al Bulooki, Chief Commercial Officer of ADAC, said: “The introduction of ‘GoSleep’ sleeping pods is another step towards exceeding customers’ expectations and delivering world-class levels of service.”
