Bahraini carrier Gulf Air will be operating flight services in Ras Al Khaimah by October 3.
The service will operate on a year-round schedule between RAK’s international airport and the carrier’s hub in Manama, it said in a statement.
“This agreement expands Ras Al Khaimah International Airport’s airspace by introducing multiple destinations from East to West,” Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the RAK airport’s chairman, said.
The northern emirate is a critical arm of the UAE’s wider strategy to bolster tourism in the country – as it seeks a more diverse source of income.
Just in the first six months of the year, RAK received over 500,000 international and domestic travelers, returning to pre-Covid numbers with a 21 percent rise.
The RAK Tourism Development Authority said the emirate is on track to welcome over 1.11 million visitors by the end of 2022.

“This is all the more remarkable given the current economic and geopolitical landscape in which we operate that drives our focus on what’s important for long-term resilience – diversification, community and sustainability,” Raki Phillips, the authority’s chief executive officer, said in a previous statement.
RAK has been signing partnerships with airlines and leading tour operators to target emerging and growing source markets. These deals include introducing new flight services, as well as developing new destinations.
