Eid Al-Fitr 2025: Dubai’s Emirates issues travel advisory; airline expects heavy passenger traffic at DXB Terminal 3

With congestion expected around Terminal 3, Emirates has urged passengers to allow extra time for their journey to the airport

Emirates has announced that Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 will experience high passenger traffic ahead of and during the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

The airline expects over 80,000 daily passengers on March 28 and 29 March and April 5 and 6, as travellers depart for their spring break holidays.

With congestion expected around Terminal 3, Emirates has urged passengers to allow extra time for their journey to the airport.

Travellers urged to arrive early at Dubai Airport for Eid departures

“Passengers should arrive at the airport up to 3 hours before their flight and take note of their boarding times to ensure they reach the departure gate on time without delay,” Emirates said in a statement on Thursday.

To ease check-in procedures, Emirates has highlighted multiple options available to passengers.

Online check-in through the Emirates website or via the Emirates App, 48 hours before departure.

Passengers can also use the Emirates City Check-in and Travel Store at ICD Brookfield Place from 24 hours up to 4 hours before departure, except for flights to the US.

Home check-in services are available from residences or hotels. Other options include self-service kiosks, baggage drop facilities at Terminal 3, and mobile check-in stations across the terminal.

Passengers from the northern Emirates can check in at the Ajman Central Bus Terminal from 24 hours up to 4 hours before departure.

Travellers can drop off luggage at the airport the night before departure at no charge or check in early and leave bags 24 hours before departure, or 12 hours before for flights to the US.

Once checked in, passengers can proceed directly to immigration or use the Smart Tunnel for faster processing.

Emirates has reminded passengers to clear passport control and security 90 minutes before departure.

“Customers should clear passport control and security 90 minutes before departure and are advised to reach their gate no later than 60 minutes before their flight if booked in Premium Economy or Economy Class, and 45 minutes before departure if venturing in First or Business Class. Boarding gates will close 20 minutes before departure. If passengers report late, Emirates will not be able to accept them for travel,” the statement said.

The airline has confirmed that check-in and gate closure times will be strictly enforced to maintain flight schedules.
