Star Wars chosen the iconic Burj Khalifa as a location to shoot a video to celebrate the release of The Force Awakens on digital download.
The franchise movie’s connection to the UAE is deeper than just this clip, having had vast swathes of the latest release, Episode VII – The Force Awakens, shot in Abu Dhabi’s Western Region. The desert landscape acted as the planet Jakku and can be enormously proud for having been part of the highest-grossing movie of all time, a feat it achieved in just 20 days.
This clip of an epic lightsaber battle is set 152 floors up in the world’s tallest tower and was shot partially from an aerial film crew.
The timing is spot on, because also online now is the teaser trailer for Rogue One, the first of several spin-off’s of J.J Abrams record-breaking ‘Episode Seven’.
