If you don’t understand the grandeur of a Rolls-Royce, you’ve probably never driven one. That said, the brand has had a reputation of being an “old rich man’s chauffeur-driven car” for far too long.
Those days are over – Rolls-Royce is now younger than ever. One look at its Wraith Inspired by Fashion model and you’ll know what I mean. One step inside it and you’ll know why I was hooked – and I mean hooked. This is one car you won’t want anyone else to touch, let alone drive.
And here’s exactly why:
What is it?
According to Rolls-Royce, Wraith is the most powerful and dynamic car the brand has ever produced.
Wraith Inspired by Fashion is its most stylish – at least for women.
Regardless of whether or not it was made with a gender in mind, this car is elegant and feminine, made for a woman that loves luxury.
Just like the brand’s Inspired by Music and Inspired by Film pieces, this Wraith is a limited edition, bespoke creation.
From the fashion industry, it takes methods like welting, seamless stitching, couture detailing, and luxe fabrics – but more on the interiors later. Now, let’s talk engine and power.
What is it like to drive?
It’s powerful and smooth – plain and simple.
Let’s get one thing clear: this is a massive and heavy car, weighting about 2,365kg. However, it’s very light and easy to drive. The steering wheel is large, making it easy to handle, and its steering smooth, making it a pleasure to drive.
It also boasts a 6.6 litre, twin-turbo V12 engine that pumps 624bhp and 590lb ft of torque. So it literally goes from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds, and you feel the power and speed when it does.
When I upped the speed, I literally felt like a wind just pulled me back in my seat.
One more thing: many might argue that a Rolls has blind spots – and that may very well be true for some people, but you don’t even have to worry about that. Why? Because it’s respected on the roads. Drivers are too scared to come too close, the only thing you’ll have to worry about is the attention. That’s right, in Dubai, where Lamborghinis and Ferraris are commonplace on the roads, a Rolls is still the headturner. It’s definitely the king of the road when it comes to cars. While sports cars demand attention, a Rolls has it by default – it doesn’t need to demand it.
What are the exterior and interior like?
They scream luxury – no exaggeration. I’m not a big fan of white cars, but the Arctic White on this one looks, quite frankly, amazing. The fact that it’s a coupe makes it look very modern and young. Like I said, no longer a chauffeur-driven car.
Still, my favourite part of the exterior and interior has got to be the Spirit of Ecstasy – the cars iconic symbol – which you can see while you’re driving and lights up as you speed down Sheikh Zayed Road.
As for the interior, it’s designed in contrasting white, pastel green, and black. The brand really took a contemporary take on this one. Besides the star-like ceiling, the car features silk-lined door pockets with the Spirit monogram and Inspired by Fashion clock.
Why is it the best?
There’s a reason it was dubbed the “pinnacle of luxury motoring” by renowned car show Top Gear. Some say that a Rolls drives you, you don’t drive it. But I disagree. You drive it and you become it. It makes you feel important, it makes you feel luxurious, and it makes you feel special. It’s a lifestyle, it’s not just a car.
