Elaf Group to open new hotel in Makkah

First of four new planned new properties poised to open before Ramadan

The Elaf Bakkah Hotel, which is owned by the Elaf Group, is on track to open before Ramadan this year.

The luxury hotel is situated in the Mahbas Al-Jin area, only 1,800 metres away from the Holy Mosque in Makkah.

The hotel features 810 rooms and 32 suites. It will also have 15 retail outlets, as well as two restaurants and a helipad, the company said in a statement.

“The Elaf Bakkah Hotel represents a key element of Elaf Group’s strategy to increase its number of hotel rooms to 5,000, in order to accommodate the increasing flow of tourists to Saudi Arabia,” said Ziyad Bin Mahfouz, president of Elaf Group of Companies.

The Elaf Bakkah is one of four new hotels the group announced last year. It is spending $107m on adding another property in Makkah, plus additional ones in Jeddah and Madina. They are all due for completion by the end of 2014.
