Footballer Jordan Henderson confirmed on social media that he will be leaving Liverpool after an impressive 12-year tenure to move to join Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq.
“It’s hard to put these last 12 years into words and it’s even harder to say goodbye. I will always be a Red. Until the day I die. Thank you for everything. You’ll never walk alone, Jordan,” the social media post read.
The former Liverpool captain will join the Saudi Pro League after Al-Ettifaq paid a fee of around $16 million, according to reports.
Once the 33-year-old joins Al-Ettifaq, he is set to be reunited with former Liverpool teammate, Steven Gerrard, who was appointed as a coach on July 3, under a three-year contract with the club.
Henderson joined Liverpool in 2011 after leaving Sunderland, and has since made 492 appearances, 33 goals, and 61 assists in all competitions for the team.
