All UAE government employees will return to offices at 100 percent capacity beginning on Sunday, July 5, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) announced on Monday.
As part of the decision all exceptions that had previously been given to federal employees have been cancelled.
Only employees who have a detailed medical report – approved by the relevant medical committee – that shows they have chronic diseases will be allowed to be exempt from the rule..
In a statement, the authority said that the reopening of government offices at full capacity marks an important milestone in the UAE’s wider effort to reopen the economy and society, while at the same time taking necessary precautionary measures.
Earlier in June, the government announced that 50 percent of government employees could return to office, up from a previously announced 30 percent.
On Sunday, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced 437 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the UAE’s total to date to 47,797. The country has also recorded 313 fatalities as a result of the virus.
