Qatari based main contractor Urbacon has delivered the complete renovation of the Sheraton Doha in record time according to a statement from the company.

Commencing operations in May 2014, UrbaCon was tasked with completing the renovation of the 32-year-old structure with the condition of delivering the project before the start of the 35th session of the Supreme Council of GCC Leaders, which proceeded as planned on December 9 and 10.

With careful attention to detail being paid to the hotel’s original 1982 design, the building was entirely renovated from the ground up including all 371 rooms, nine restaurants, as well as all common areas, both inside and out.

UrbaCon executive director Moutaz Al Khayyat said: “We were aware of the importance of ensuring a timely delivery for this project when we took it on, and thanks to our diligent project management structure, we are proud to have delivered four days ahead of schedule, without compromising on quality.”

At its peak a team of over 16,000 personnel were working on the renovation, including highly qualified engineers, interior designers and project managers.

Al Khayyat added: “The delivery of this project was a significant challenge which was only made possible through a coordinated approach organised with military precision.”
