Symbol introduces wireless security solution

Symbol Technologies has announced that it is to introduce its MobiusGuard security system for wireless local area networks (WLAN) to the Middle East.

Symbol Technologies has announced that it is to introduce its MobiusGuard security system for wireless local area networks (WLAN) to the Middle East. The system ensures that wireless networks are not left vulnerable to intrusion without impeding the mobility and flexibility that are their hallmarks. The MobiusGuard solution is a complete set of security mechanisms including AirBEAM Safe for wireless virtual private networks (WVPN) that includes authentication, encryption, which can be run simultaneously with always-on encryption, plus VPN tunneling and architecting. It comes with Symbol’s application specific wireless devices.“Wireless networking has shown a dramatic increase in uptake in the Middle East in the last six months, but many customers have concerns about security. We believe that we have assembled the best security methods available today in a straightforward and comprehensive suite, so that we can help our customers make an intelligent security adoption decision,” said Sunil Chadra, regional manager, Symbol Middle East. The company mentions several features that should give the system wide appeal. It does not require the replacement of any communications equipment. It also has the option of open or closed status such as in an airport where staff might check in passengers from a wireless device using the closed loop while open wireless Internet access is available to passengers in the departure lounges. It is also fully compatible with Microsoft Pocket PC systems.
