Family appeal after Indian sailor goes missing from Dubai ship in Iran

Aayush Chaudhary went missing on July 15 after falling from the vessel during high tides

The sister of an Indian sailor, who has reportedly gone missing from a Dubai ship in Iranian waters, has appealed for help in finding her brother.

Priyanka Chaudhary, who has contacted Indian authorities in her native India and in Dubai, has taken to social media in a desperate attempt to trace her brother, 22-year-old Aayush, who has been missing since July 15.

In a thread of Tweets, she said her brother was working for Dubai-based Al Mutawasit Marine Services, whom he joined in April this year.

She said: “We have been straight away told by the company that he fell from the vessel and was lost sight of during and due to high tides. The name of the vessel is Pink Rose. We are not satisfied whether all due procedures and attempts were made by the authorities concerned or not, since their responses to the events have been quite late and illogical.”

The company told the family that Aayush fell in the water while the ship was 30 nautical miles away from Port Assaluyeh in Iran and attempts to rescue him went in vain, according to a report in Gulf News.

In a further Tweet she said her brother Aayush, who is able to swim, was the only person who fell in the sea.

The Gulf News report added that the Indian Consulate in Dubai has said it will take up the matter with the company in the emirate and will request the embassy in Iran take it up with Iranian authorities.
