Covid-19: Kuwait's Jazeera Airways repatriates over 6,800 citizens

Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways operated more than 60 flights to repatriate over 6,800 citizens since March 25 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the airline has announced.

According to the airline, the flights took place between March 25 and May 10 and flew Kuwaiti citizens home from London, Warsaw, Moscow, Yerevan, Riyadh, Manama, Dubai, Doha, Amman, Istanbul, Alexandria, Cairo, Najaf, Tehran, Tbilisi and Sarajevo.

Jazeera has also operated a number of expatriation flights in coordination with various embassies in Kuwait.

Additionally, Jazeera Airways has operated 23 cargo flights, carrying a total of 253.7 tonnes of cargo to and from Kuwait International Airport. The destinations were all within a six hour radius from Kuwait.

When flying passengers, the airline performs an anti-viral disinfection programme that sees staff spray the cabins after each flight, as well as fumigate the aircraft using anti-viral high pressure disinfection sprays throughout the cabin.

On-board filtration systems are also replaced more frequently than is standard to help remove dust, allergens, bacteria and particles. Passengers are obligated to wear medical masks and gloves at all times.

With the help of the Kuwaiti government, Jazeera Airways has also built the Kuwait Passenger Reception Centre (KPRC), in which blood tests are performed on all passengers before proceeding to institutional or in-house quarantine periods.
