Dubai Municipality has confirmed that restaurant and bar staff serving customers do not need to wear masks.
“Further to the changes in the Covid-19 precautionary measures, staff serving food to customers in restaurants, coffee shop etc. are not required to wear a mask,” the Dubai Municipality announced on Friday via its FoodWatch platform.
The new platform comes following a slew of changes the UAE government announced in September, regarding the relaxation of Covid-19 measures.
In November, the UAE announced that the Al Hosn Green Pass was no longer required to enter public facilities and sites.
“Wearing masks will be optional in all open and closed facilities, including places of worship and mosques, except for health facilities and centres for people of determination, where it will be mandatory,” said National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority’s (NCEMA) Dr Saif Al Dhaheri said.
Face mask rules had been in effect for more than two-and-a-half-years. Face masks will continue to remain mandatory in health facilities and centres for people of determination.
