Impounded vehicles in the UAE emirate of Ajman will be auctioned off online by Emirates Auction, the company said in a release.
It comes after the UAE auctioneer signed a partnership agreement with the Ajman Security Services Support Authority.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Shamsi, the executive director of the Ajman body, the move is in line with the UAE’s wider campaign to optimise government services.
“The authority is following international best practices in the field of selling impounded vehicles. Hence, we inked an agreement with Emirates Auction, which has vast experience in auctioning off vehicles at the best prices,” Al Shamsi said in a statement.
He added: “We hope that we are giving interested entities and people an opportunity to benefit from the seized vehicles in the best way feasible and at fair rates. We expect good financial returns that can be invested in a variety of development areas.”
The auction of impounded cars is common in the UAE, with government bodies in different emirates auctioning off hundreds of cars to many interested bidders. In Sharjah last year, around 3,911 abandoned cars were impounded in six months.
“All impounded vehicles are auctioned off in accordance with best practices and standards and we are leveraging all our expertise and capabilities, as well as our advanced technologies and modern bidding systems,” Abdullah Matar Al Mannai, Emirates Auction’s managing director, said.
