The UAE has announced new rules on payment of tax in the country.

Official announcements clarify the amount of tax payable on intellectual property, as well as a tax exemption on income earned trading selected items on registered stock exchanges.

The UAE Ministry of Finance has issued Cabinet Decision No. 100 of 2023 on Determining Qualifying Income, as well as Ministerial Decision No.265 of 2023 on Qualifying Activities and Excluded Activities.

NEOM announces 3 new hotels in Leyja

NEOM and sustainable hospitality brand Our Habitas have announced three new hotels in the Kingdom.

New Sunday paper launches in Dubai

Sunday, a new weekly paper is launching in Dubai with the first edition available on stands on November 5th at 6 AM. Over 80,000 copies will be available free of charge across the emirate.

Launched by Arabian Business, the paper is set to offer high-quality local journalism, community updates, lifestyle features, and more.

Sunday is set to make a significant impact on the Dubai media scene. The paper will be available every Sunday, starting at 6 AM through a wide distribution network spanning across more than 65 prominent malls, over 60 major hotels, 50 residential communities, and over 300 popular cafes and restaurants.

Dubai’s RTA announces 40 new delivery rider rest stops

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is planning to build 40 air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders in key areas across Dubai.

The initiative aims to enhance road safety, foster wellbeing and reduce the risks of road accidents.

By providing these facilities, RTA seeks to offer comfortable amenities to delivery riders while waiting for new orders, thereby increasing their overall happiness rating, and encouraging them to comply with traffic laws and regulations.

Dubai International Airport expects 85m passengers in 2023

Dubai International Airport saw 41.6m passengers in the first half of the year and expects the number to rise to 85m by the end of 2023, according to Dubai Customs.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, emphasised that Dubai Customs is keeping up with the outstanding performance of the tourism sector in Dubai by providing smart systems and skilled officers to facilitate travellers.

He noted that Dubai International Airport has seen a significant increase in passenger traffic during the first half of 2023, with expectations to reach 85 million passengers by the end of the year.
