The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has declared that Friday, July 21, will be a paid day off for employees working in the private sector in the UAE to commemorate the Islamic New Year (1445H).

This decision aligns with a Cabinet Resolution regarding official holidays for both the public and private sectors in the UAE for the year 2023.

This announcement means that people in the UAE can anticipate a three-day weekend at the end of this month

The UAE government also announced the date for the upcoming Islamic New Year holiday for federal employees.

Friday, July 21, will be a holiday for those who work in the federal government, on the occasion of the Hijri New Year.

The Islamic New Year, also referred to as the Hijri New Year, signifies the start of a fresh lunar year.

Most Muslims observe the first day of Muharram as the beginning of the Islamic year.
