Dust storms swept across the UAE on Wednesday morning, prompting the National Centre of Meteorology to issue a yellow alert covering large sections of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The alert advised people to “be cautious” of the challenging conditions, which reduced visibility to 1,000 metres over the Al Minhad area of Dubai at about 6 AM. The warning is in place until 12 PM on Wednesday.

“Abu Dhabi Police urges drivers to be cautious due to low visibility during high winds and dust .. And for your saftey and for the safety of others on the road, please do not be distracted by taking any videos or using your phone,” the authority said via Twitter.

Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to be vigilant, as the dusty weather has made driving conditions dangerous.

The UAE has been experiencing fog and hazy skies during the week, which has caused some disruptions to transportation.

Despite these conditions, temperatures remain high, with the mercury expected to reach 37°C in Al Ain and highs of 32°C in Dubai.

The National Centre of Meteorology has also advised people to continue monitoring the weather situation and to follow the guidance of local authorities.
