Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announced that 232 major international events would take place in the city over the next few years.

The leading regional events hub said this will boost the local economy and enhance Dubai’s reputation as an international business and tourism destination.

Mahir Abdulkarim Julfar, Executive Vice President of the DWTC, said that the business outlook for 2023 is optimistic, based on positive signs in the first quarter of 2023.

Dubai hosted 4.67m visitors in the first quarter of 2023, up 17 per cent from 3.97m in the same period last year, Julfar said.

This progress has enhanced the city’s reputation as a leading destination for business tourism and conferences, with the DWTC hosting 36 events in the same period of 2023, up from 25 events in 2022, he added.

The centre’s exhibitions in 2022 performed remarkably well, attracting 12,000 exhibitors, a 35 per cent rise from the previous year, and drawing more than 37,000 companies to the events hosted by the centre, he further added.
