IT services provider 3i Infotech has selected Etisalat’s IP Connect Service to consolidate its local and international connectivity network under a single platform.The motivation behind the move for 3i Infotech is to reduce operating costs and enhance bandwidth. Etisalat says that it will provide advanced connectivity for the end-user and guarantee it a high quality of service.
Pankaj Chawla, CEO and president at 3i Infotech MEARC region, says that the Etisalat project will allow it to reach and better serve a greater number of customers across the Middle East region.
“The new Ethernet-based IP network will help us offer our clients next generation managed services and intelligent routing of mission critical traffic,” explained Chawla. “All of these services will enable 3i Infotech to reach out to its customers in the Middle East, Africa, Russia and CIS countries in a more effective way.”
According to Etisalat the Global IP Connect service will let 3i Infotech migrate its legacy system, which revolves around a leased line, to a more advanced IP network offering a single platform but multiple applications capability.
3i Infotech has offices in Dubai, Sharjah, Chennai and Mumbai, all of which will be connected via dedicated broadband provided under the IP Connect Service.
Applications such as email and other internal systems will be accessed through the company’s intranet which will work to save expenditure on travel and increase productivity. The end-user makes no mention of whether this system is planned to also connect its recently announced Saudi office in Riyadh to the rest of the network.
Making use of Etisalat’s Class of Service priority queuing system 3i Infotech will be able to prioritise the network traffic to ensure that the most important elements take precedence. Furthermore, 3i Infotech has elected to have its server infrastructure hosted at the Etisalat Data Centre due to limitations presented by its Dubai Media City office.
