Dubai-based Medad Technology is investing $150 million in the research and development of new technologies that could pave the way for radical advances in healthcare, biotech, fintech and sustainable mobility.
The company has already patented several innovations in ultrasound technology, with potential applications in smoking cessation, medicine delivery and diagnostics.
“Medad Technology’s health-tech division has achieved breakthroughs in inhalation technology based on our own patented ultrasound technology, with both medical and recreational applications,” Mohammed Alshaiba Almazrouei, CEO, Medad Technology told Arabian Business.
“Additionally, we are exploring opportunities through our other divisions as well, which includes biotech, fintech, and power management, either through R&D, investments, or partnerships. At the core of Medad Technology’s operations is the design of its own Integrated Chips (IC) and Printed Circuit Boards (PCB), as well as the development of its own firmware and software to deliver turnkey systems and solutions,” he continued.
The tech company is set to launch its patented ultrasound nicotine delivery system (UNDS) in the UAE and will invest a further $100m over the next three years in clinical trials, smoking cessation research and product development across sectors.
“Over the period, the incorporation of technology in healthcare has resulted in improved patient diagnosis, efficient treatment and creating effective products. Healthcare is undoubtedly the most important of all the areas that have benefited from technological adoption,” said Almazrouei.

“Today, we see innovation being at the heart of healthcare that allows stepping into new efficiencies and enabling better performances of products. The role of Big Data has played a critical role by allowing a whole new horizon of assessment, progression and efficiencies. It can aid in the streamlining of many routine processes by discovering and alerting gaps that could cause interruptions in patient care,” he continued.
Acknowledging the role of the UAE in advancing healthtech, Almazrouei said:” The UAE has been recognised as the most innovative Arab country in the world, and 33rd globally by the Global Innovation Index 2021.”
“Innovation is a core pillar of the country’s economic development and we, at Medad Technology, are keen to contribute to the country’s innovation agenda. In fact, since our formation in 2020, Medad Technology has established operations in R&D, design and engineering, product development and distribution in the UAE,” he continued.
