Dubai’s Emirates Airline announced plans to construct a $135 million, state-of-the-art training facility that will accommodate six Full Flight Simulator Bays (FFS) for its forthcoming Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X aircraft.
The new building, spanning 63,318 sq. ft., is set to open in March 2024 and will be located adjacent to Emirates’ existing training facilities in Dubai, the airline said in a statement on Monday.
The airline aims to increase its pilot training capacity by 54 percent annually, with a total of 17 full flight simulator bays across its training buildings offering more than 130,000 training hours every year.
Emirates’ new pilot training centre
“This $135 million investment to build a new pilot training centre will ensure Emirates’ readiness to commence its pilot training ahead of the delivery of its new aircraft fleet starting from 2024. The building will be equipped with the latest, technologically advanced simulators to provide the best training for pilots, while using solar power to reduce energy consumption,” Emirates Airline chairman and chief executive officer Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said.

The new facility will feature a unique concept that allows trainees to set up and configure their cockpit environment using custom-made devices prior to starting their training module.
This revolutionary approach is designed to minimise the trainee’s preparatory time in the simulator, improve their concentration and utilise their training session to the fullest.
Emirates’ newest training facility is scheduled to commence training its first batch of A350 pilots by June 2024, coinciding with the airline’s first Airbus A350 delivery.
The airline provides a comprehensive range of training and development programmes for its workforce and other aviation professionals, including the Emirates Flight Training Academy for cadets, Emirates Aviation University, Emirates Cabin Crew Training Centre, and various programmes tailored to different employee segments.
With its cutting-edge training facilities, the airline aims to provide its pilots with greater flexibility and resources to refine their flying skills.
In addition to offering world-class training for flight deck crew, the airline also plans to leverage its sophisticated training capabilities to prepare its staff for new aircraft and technologies.
