An African-American woman claims she was “forced to urinate” on the airplane floor after the flight’s cabin crew denied her access to the washroom, a video circulating on social media showed.
The incident, recorded by a cabin crew member, took place on a US-based Spirit Airlines flight and has since sparked outrage on social media.
In the video, the woman can be seen squatting on the ground, engaging in a heated argument with the Spirit Airlines staff who told her to drink water to conceal the smell of her urine.
The unidentified woman was filmed yelling at the flight attendants “I need to piss for two hours, you tell me you cannot, you close the doors.”
The flight attendant taking the video then said “say hello to the camera for me.” The woman responded, “blame yourself.”
“You can do whatever you want,” she told the cabin crew member. “You can send a warrant. Arresting me is better than this.”
Spirit Airlines has not yet publicly commented on the matter.
Over the past few months, unruly passengers have become a common occurrence. On an American Airlines (AA-292) flight from New York to New Delhi in March 2023, an intoxicated India passenger allegedly urinated on man mid-flight.
A similar incident happened in January this year when an Indian man travelling to Delhi from New York on an Air India flight urinated on a female passenger who was a senior citizen.
