Launched earlier this year by ITP Media Group, Gault&Millau brings one of the world’s most established and widely respected fine dining food critique brands to one of the most competitive culinary destinations on the planet.
The 2023 restaurant ratings are set to be revealed in an exclusive gala ceremony on April 27, held at the iconic 7-star hotel, Burj Al Arab.
Attendees at the event will also get their hands on the second edition of the Gault&Millau guide, which features a list of restaurants, to be revealed on March 15. Tickets for the gala will also go on sale on Wednesday.
Over 200 restaurants were visited over nine months by Gault&Millau’s independent and anonymous investigation team. The guide was decided based on the investigations and will receive the ratings accordingly.
Awards will also be given to restaurant winners across the UAE’s gastronomic scene.
During the gala event, guests will be presented with a specially curated menu by top chefs and paired fine wines.
For more than 50 years, Gault&Millau has been putting restaurants under a microscope, first in France and then elsewhere in mainland Europe, before expanding into Japan and Australia and now here in the Emirates, ITP Media Group’s CEO Ali Akawi discussed prior to the launch.

The brand’s first event was held earlier in April 2022 at Burj Al Arab’s Uma Bar. On the evening, some of the UAE’s most respected chefs, restaurateurs and hospitality leaders heard from ITP Media Group CEO Ali Akawi about why the time is right for Gault&Millau to enter the region.
Gault&Millau UAE revealed its first ever Champagne Index in November 2022, the index was the first time that a country’s champagne scene has been examined by Gault&Millau. Using data compiled over a two-week period between September 29 and October 13, 2022, Gault&Millau compared the price of every bottle on each of the 42 lists.
