Ushba Tesoro won the 2023 Dubai World Cup at the Meydan Racecourse.

With Yuga Kawada as the rider it was a triumphant night for trainer N. Takagi as the champion horse went from last to first place on the final stretch.

Algiers came in second with Emblem Road following up in third place.

The victory marked Japan’s second victory at the iconic race.

It was the culmination of a thrilling day’s racing at the Meydan Racecourse.

Earlier in the evening Equinox, ridden by Christophe Lemaire took first place in the $6m Dubai Sheema Classic.

Fan favourite and long-time visitor to Meydan Frankie Dettori was among the big winners earlier in the day.

Riding Lord North to victory in the $5m Dubai Turf, the horse and jockey made it three years in a row and one of  the most successful pairings in the illustrious history of horse-racing in the city.

Sibelius, and rider Ryan Moore were the victors in the $2m Dubai Golden Shaheen.

The day’s racing got off to an impressive start when Hayyan, under rider Oscar Chavez, took the first win of the day in a photo finish.

Tyler Gaffalione’s Isolate took first place in the $1m Godolphin Mile race.

It was Yuga Kawada and Ushba Tesoro that capped off the night, though.

The culmination of the day’s races and the latest season for enthusiasts marked the ongoing success of the Meydan Racecourse as a hub for equine enthusiasts around the world.

129 horses were on the day’s racecard and more than $30m in prize money handed over.
