Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo won his third Player of the Year award at an Global Soccer Awards ceremony at Atlantis The Palm on Monday.
The Portuguese forward, whose Spanish side is in the UAE to play a friendly against AC Milan on Tuesday, is also expected to win FIFA Ballon d’Or, football’s most prestigious award, when it is presented next month.
“I hope it can be a good signal, but I am not worried about that,” the 29-year-old said modestly about the possibility of following the Dubai accolade with further trophies.
“The people who vote know what they need to do. I feel happy. This is one more trophy for dedication and hard work.”
