Dubai Police has urged motorists to be extra cautious as unstable weather looms across the region, road users are to exercise caution, adhere to safety rules and reduce driving speeds during rainy and unstable weather.
“Motorists are encouraged to take time before their journey to review weather forecasts and reports through accredited media and the competent authorities in the country to avoid traffic accidents,” advised Brigadier Turki Abdurrahman bin Faris, Acting Director of the General Department of Operations.
He further urged motorists to keep a safe distance between cars and adjust their speed to the weather conditions. He also emphasised on the need to use low-beam lights and indicate when changing lanes.
The Dubai Police Command & Control Centre received 15,057 calls since Monday of which 13,108 were made to the force’s emergency hotline (999) and 1,959 calls were handled by the Dubai Police Call Centre (901) that handles non-emergency calls and general inquires.
