The Emirate of Sharjah has banned all New Year’s Eve 2024 celebrations and firework displays in a show of solidarity and support with Gaza, according to a post published by Sharjah Police.

According to the statement, all individuals are to cooperate and commit. Legal measures will be taken against those in violation.

Last month, the UAE announced plans to set up an equipped field hospital in the southern Gaza Strip.

The medical facility will be situated in close proximity to the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

The construction of a 150-bed field hospital will unfold in stages, encompassing specialised departments for general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and gynecology.

The facility will include intensive care units catering to both children and adults. Additionally, there will be clinics specializing in internal medicine, dentistry, psychiatry, and family medicine.
