The UAE experienced rain in parts of Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafrah region on Monday evening.

On Monday morning, several areas in the UAE also experienced thick fog, causing challenges for thousands of commuters heading back to school and work.

Visibility in Dubai and Abu Dhabi was significantly reduced due to misty weather.

To ensure safety, Abu Dhabi Police imposed speed limits of 80 kilometre per hour on certain routes in response to a weather alert issued by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The NCM had cautioned that the foggy conditions could remain until 8.30AM, primarily affecting coastal and internal western regions.

Despite the foggy start, temperatures and humidity remained high across the Emirates, with a hot and hazy day predicted.

The densest fog occurred before 7AM, with skies gradually clearing thereafter, coinciding with one of the busiest days for road travel in the country, as schools reopened after summer break.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) issued a public and traffic safety advisory.
