Dubai DET inks new deal with Hyatt to boost global visibility

According to the MoU, Hyatt hotels in Dubai will participate in DET initiatives including familiarisation trips, study programmes and events to attract visitors from abroad

Strategic Alliance between Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Hyatt Hotels in Dubai

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has formed a partnership with Hyatt hotels in Dubai through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the city to international audiences.

The agreement, signed by Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), part of DET, and Fathi Khogaly, Area Vice President for the Hyatt hotels in Dubai, aims to support the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, which seeks to establish Dubai as a premier global destination.

According to the MoU, Hyatt hotels in Dubai will participate in DET initiatives including familiarisation trips, study programmes and events to attract visitors from abroad.

DET, Hyatt form partnership to showcase Dubai to international markets

The hotel group will also contribute to promotional campaigns such as flash sales, exhibitions and roadshows.

In return, DET will provide marketing support for Hyatt projects, including the launch of the new Grand Hyatt Dubai Waterpark scheduled to open this year.

The collaboration will utilise key opinion leaders (KOLs) and content creation to increase reach.

“This collaboration with Hyatt Hotels Dubai aligns with the aspirations of our visionary leadership to position Dubai as the best city to visit, live and work in. Driving forward the ambitious D33 Agenda, with the support of all stakeholders and partners, it is also a testament to our shared vision of diversifying and enhancing Dubai’s tourism offerings. Through this strategic alliance we will continue to showcase Dubai as a top-tier global destination by crafting distinctive experiences that cater to every type of traveller, while ensuring Dubai remains synonymous with innovation and unparalleled service across all touchpoints,” Kazim said.

Hyatt’s portfolio in Dubai includes Grand Hyatt Dubai, Park Hyatt Dubai, Hyatt Centric Jumeirah Dubai, Andaz Dubai The Palm, and Hyatt Place Dubai Jumeirah.

The partnership comes as Dubai reports record visitor numbers, with 18.72 million international overnight visitors in 2024, representing a 9 percent increase from 2023.

The city’s hotel sector achieved 78.2 percent average occupancy last year, with inventory growing to 154,016 rooms across 832 properties, up from 150,291 rooms across 821 properties in 2023.

“Dubai’s remarkable growth as a global tourism and hospitality hub has been instrumental to Hyatt’s success in the region. We opened the first Hyatt hotel in the city in 1980 and we have since expanded to 10 hotels across Dubai. This strategic collaboration with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism marks an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to supporting Dubai’s vision for the future. By combining our global expertise with the city’s ambitious goals of the D33 Agenda, the Hyatt hotels in Dubai remain dedicated to expanding its footprint and delivering exceptional experiences that showcase Dubai as a world-leading destination,” Khogaly added.
