Europe’s sustainable ultra-low fare airline has added Saudi Arabia to their global route, flights to Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam will open up opportunities for added tourism for the kingdom, as developments for Vision 2030 take over.
“Today’s announcement of 20 new routes to Saudi is one of the largest such announcements anywhere in the world. It is a real first for Wizz Air and for Saudi, and opens a new and affordable gateway for visitors from Europe,” says Fahd Hamidaddin, CEO and Board Member at Saudi Tourism Authority.
“I see the Kingdom as a long-term strategic market for Wizz Air where we will continue to innovate and carry the flag of low cost flying for the benefit of Saudi residents and visitors as well as the country’s diversifying economy,” expressed Jozsef Varadi, CEO of Wizz Air.
The new flights will fly from several European countries to the kingdom, including Rome, Milan, Venice, Bucharest, Budapest, Larnaca, and Sofia.
Saudi Arabia is anticipating a hike in travel and tourism in 2022, these new routes will boost the growing Arabian tourist sector and contribute to the Vision 2030 agenda as passenger traffic is expected to triple by 2030. Amid rising inflation and hiking airline fares, demand for low-cost carriers is high, Wizz Air answers to that demand with its ultra-low fare strategy.
This agreement between Wizz Air and The Ministry of Investment for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia intends to stimulate tourist demand immensely and boost the economy after a pandemic-induced decline.
As COVID-19 restrictions ease and PCR test requirements for vaccinated travellers is removed, airports all-over the world are faced with an influx of travellers. Developments to the Saudi Arabian Airport is also in works as an attempt to attract an impress passengers.
