One of the Gulf’s top venture capitalists, Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed, is to set to join a host of big names at a San Francisco-based summit that will discuss the future of food and the evolution of plant-based tech.
The founder and CEO of KBW Ventures will take part in a fireside chat with Suzy Amis Cameron, the environmental advocate and former actress, at The Future of Food 2.0 event, which is taking place on 10 July at the WeWork headquarters in Silicon Valley.
Other speakers include Bruce Friedrich, co-founder of The Good Food Institute and representatives from key venture capital outfits Stray Dog Capital and New Crop Capital.
The plant-based technology sector has come into sharp focus in recent weeks following the success of Beyond Meat’s IPO, whose stock has risen by more than 540% since the company went public in May.
Prince Khaled is a well-known investor in this sector, with partnerships ranging from Beyond Meat to lab-meat firm Memphis Meats and plant-based food company JUST Inc.
Organised by sf.citi, The Future of Food 2.0 will review new opportunities in the segment, with a ‘Meatless Marketplace’ space also showcasing a variety of new plant-based products.
